Come learn how to help your dog in the event of a canine medical emergency! It could save your dog's life and give you the confidence to know what to look for and what to do!
We are very fortunate to have Dr. Andrew Linklater, a nationally recognized Vet, present this very special course for us. The following topics will be covered:
**Why are dogs different than people in first aid
**Understanding normal vital signs and listening to the heart and lungs
**How to protect yourself from injury and assure safe transport of the injured pet
**Pain medication (why most are unsafe!)
**Torn nails and abraisons
**Bleeding and major injuries - knowing when to get to the vet!
**Cleaning wounds and proper bandage application
**CPR, Choking, and the Heimlich Manuever
**Accidental toxic ingestion and common household dangers

About Dr. Andrew Linklater, DVM, DACVECC
Dr. Linklater is originally from Canada. He completed veterinary school in Saskatoon, SK. He then did a one year internship in Los Angeles, CA before moving to the Milwaukee area in 2003 where he completed a residency in emergency and critical care at the Animal Emergency Center. He is board certified by the Amercian College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care and an instructor at the Animal Emergency Center. He has published in several veterinary journals, served as editor, published in several veterinary textbooks, has lectured at major veterinary conferences nationwide and internationally and serves on the Milwaukee Vet Med Assoc. board. We are very honored to have Dr. Linklater as our presenter as there are less than 200 veterinarians in the world with these credentials.
